Get-ObjectIdentifier

Synopsis

Resolves object identifier value to a associated friendly name and vice versa.

Syntax

Get-ObjectIdentifier [-OIDString] <String[]> [<CommonParameters>]

Description

Resolves object identifier value to a associated friendly name and vice versa. The cmdlet resolves both well-known OIDs (used in Internet PKI) and Active Directory forest specific registered OIDs.

Parameters

-OIDString <String[]>

Specifies a string or strings that represents object identifier friendly name or value.

Required? True
Position? 0
Default value
Accept pipeline input? true (ByValue)
Accept wildcard characters? False

<CommonParameters>

This cmdlet supports the common parameters: Verbose, Debug,
ErrorAction, ErrorVariable, InformationAction, InformationVariable,
WarningAction, WarningVariable, OutBuffer, PipelineVariable and OutVariable.

Examples

Example 1

PS C:\> Get-ObjectIdentifier "Server Authentication"

Will resolve 'Server Authentication' OID to an object identifier value (1.3.6.1.5.5.7.3.1).

Example 2

PS C:\> Get-ObjectIdentifier "1.3.6.1.5.5.7.3.9"

Will resolve '1.3.6.1.5.5.7.3.9' value to a friendly name (OCSP Signing).
